Virus Removal

We understand the frustration and confusion that comes with getting a virus. You can get a virus from just visiting the wrong web page, opening an email or plugging in a USB flash drive. Today people who write viruses are not just pranksters looking to cause a little confusion. Sophisticated crime syndicates use viruses for identity theft and credit card fraud. In the early days of viruses there would be an error message that would appear on your screen saying that you had been caught out. Now days, the first thing that malware attacks do is disable any error messages that you might receive so that other nasties can get through. Back in 1994 I was running Windows 3.1 on a second hand computer. I put an infected floppy disk into the drive without knowing it and a couple of weeks later the computer started acting funny. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and he did a virus check on my computer and found a trojan. I felt physically ill, I did not know how I got the virus, and I did not know what had to be done to get rid of it. I did not know if it was permanent and I did not know what programs were affected.

If you have a virus it is not the end of the world. Make sure you back everything up straight away and call us. There is no guarantee that your operating system is able to be recovered, and in some cases it is easier to re-install your operating system and start with a clean system than to spend hours scanning and re-scanning only to find more and more viruses. In the end your operating system will have to re-installed anyway.
