Facebook Security Tips For Gamers
Having a facebook account has become a staple for most internet users these days and one of the more popular things to do is play flash games. Whether it be a farm, a village, a cafe, a fish tank or an army that you try to build the method of these games stays the same, but security should also not be ingnored. The game starts off easy, just playing by yourself., but the further along you get with these games the more friends you need to progress in the game. There exists specific groups that are dedicated to help you with this task. All you have to do is join the group or fan page, type "add me" and watch as complete strangers request to become your Facebook friends.

There is nothing wrong with this process and it really helps you get far in these games but it does lead to security problems and could potentially put your personal security and your facebook account at risk. The other issue is that you might have adequate security but your friends might have no idea about facebook security and put your privacy at risk.
Facebook Accounts can be hijacked through a number of means; You might not have the right security at home, this means having active virus protection, an active firewall and a malware checker, already have had a virus on your computer, You might have accessed your account from a public computer and not logged off properly, or someone has picked up your mobile phone and used it that way. A main rule of thumb to use is don't share anything on facebook that you would not share on a public website.
The first Step to getting your account back is to change your facebook password and maybe even your name, Passwords should be around 8 characters in length made up of numbers letters and capitals, this goes for any password. eg. from "password" to "pAssw0rD1". While you are doing this change all your passwords because you do not know how much information that the hackers already have. This will not affect your account and who you are friends with. It will make it harder for the people who already have your information to use it again. I suggest changing your facebook name to something like "Johnny Smith" instead of "John Smith". Then go through all the facebook account, privacy and application settings and change them to suit your privacy needs.
For your own safety, hide your phone number on facebook. If you are going to add people you do not know to facebook for gaming purposes, Create a list by clicking "Account" then "Edit Friends". On the right you should see "All Connections" tab. You will see all your "Friends" listed in alphabetical order. Click on the "add to list" option and type "Gaming" in the box provided. That list will appear on the left hand side, then all you have to do is select "gaming" from a drop down list for all the rest of your gaming friends. Click on it to see all of the friends you have put in there.

Click "Account" then "Privacy Settings". In the "Sharing on Facebook" tab on the right, click "Custom" and at the bottom of that tab click the "customise settings" link. Here is all the privacy settings under the hood of your facebook account. For each option there is a drop down menu on the right, From the menu click the "customise" link at the bottom, then In the "Hide this from" box type "Gaming", then click "Gaming" from the drop down list. "save settings". Now you should see on the left "posts by me" then on the right side should read "Friends only; Except: Gaming" This will apply to all lists.
This will ensure your privacy and you will be able to add people for gaming as much as you like. Facebook is safe, its just when people decide to make public, private information, it becomes risky.
Happy Gaming
